Morgan Week 21

This morning we had the anatomy ultrasound, this is where they look at all his pieces parts and make sure everything is forming correctly. We are happy to report that Baby Morgan Haas is perfect. Perfect weight, perfect size, perfect arm and leg length, perfect heart, perfect head size and perfect brain formation. As Don says, like father like son :). In the ultrasound we got to see all 4 chambers of his heart, his arm and leg bones, his brain, the bottoms of his feet and, as my Dr said, his outdoor plumbing. We also got to see him opening and closing his mouth and swallowing.
The Alpha Fetal Protein test came back negative, so no spina bifida or any of the other birth defects that they screen for.
The only worry we have now, is that I have developed gestational diabetes. We screened early for it due to a family history of diabetes, and because I tend to be sugar intolerant. My sugar was high enough that I will be on insulin injections as well as a restricted diet. I will see the dietitian this week, and follow up with my Dr next week. My Dr is confident that since we caught this early we can control the diabetes with Insulin and Diet and diminish the risks to Morgan.
