Morgan had his 15 month (1 year adjusted check up). He is on track developmentally for his adjusted age.

He has started saying a few words, such as ‘œNo, No!’ and ‘œUhhhh OH!’ And of course the ever present DA! DA!

Height is 32 inches and Weight is 22 lbs 10 ozs.

Dr says he is having too many bottles, he has 5 during the week and 6 ‘“ 8 on the weekend. So focus should be on getting him to eat more substantial meals, once he is eating 3 good meals we can transition him from Formula to Milk. We plan to start that transition next week.

Also, we are beginning to transition him from the bottle to a sippy cup. He’™ll take a sippy cup, but not when he’s tired or really hungry.

His Dr’s appointment was the day of the earthquake, and I was at daycare when it hit, so that was fun to see, the house really shook; all but one of the kids were un-phased.

That Saturday, Morgan and I both took falls. Me first, my fall involved a wet dog, flip flops and a tile floor. Need I say more? Well a little I guess. So my right leg went out in front of me, while my left leg bent back and to the side. After a couple weeks of braces, anti-inflammatories and the occasional Vicodin my knee is much better, but not 100%. Luckily I can bear weight on it, and am still able to walk for exercise, just can’t twist or pivot.

Morgan’s fall came later in the day. He was engaging in one of his favorite past-times, banging on the front screen door. Well the door was not completely latched, and on about the 20th hit the door opened and Morgan’s face met the concrete front stoop. Only the scrap below his lip bled slightly. The rest of the scabbed areas were only red the night of and turned to scabs by morning. The scrapes are now healed except for red marks, and I will do what I can to minimize any scarring.

We have enrolled Morgan in Tumbling Tots at the Long Beach Parks and Rec. It’s a Gymboree type class but less over-whelming and less-expensive. Also the facilitator has a gymnastics background so she works on skills like forward rolls and curling around the high bar. Morgan seems to enjoy it and we are grateful that she let him join the class even though it’s for walkers to 2 year olds.

So, last Monday at 6 pm (8/11/08) Morgan took his first 4 steps. Since then he has walked anywhere from 2 ‘“ 9 steps at a time throughout the course of the day, nothing steady; just here and there. So we got him his first 2 pairs of Stride Rite walker shoes, but his walking adventures were curtailed this weekend due to teething. ALL 4 of his bottom molars are coming in at once, and Morgan is having quite a time. Tylenol and Hyland teething tablets are our best friends right now.

Morgan also had his eye checkup with Dr. Robert Clark…he passed with flying colors!!
